Where is Everybody?
March 25th 2004, 00:40 CET by Charles

So, as you've probably all noticed, the site has been deader than Hulka's week old dirty socks lately.  What gives?  Did you all go out and have babies?  Did you all follow Jibble to the altar to get married?  Are you stuck in a third world country with no net connection?  Are you cheating on planetcrap?

Think of this a roll call.  Where are you, and what are you up to?  Come back to us!  The many can give you comfort.

(Note:  Voting yes for this topic will bump the monster topic off the bottom of the front page.  'sup DKI)

I rarely post anyways but I just moved to Portland, got a terrible job, haven't been paid for that job (for about three weeks) and I'm now under investigation for stealing $5000 from said workplace.

If someone could mail me a gun with just one bullet, I would appreciate it.

I assume you didn't steal it. Why are they accusing you?

Guh,

One owner.  Two employees.  She left $5000 in cash in a bag that she carried anywhere form one to four weeks before it was stolen.  She figures it had to have been stolen at the store.

In a bit of Alanis Morrisette style irony, that was money that would've been used to pay me.  She nows owes me a grand in pay.

And I'm getting not a single job offer from any where else.

Now, send that gun!

I'd like to blame everyone else...

Seriously though, I'd suggest that the reason nothing is talked about on here at the moment is two fold.  One, not much has been happening in the game industry.  Two, people refuse to talk about politics, god, or anything else that might be an interesting topic, because it has already been talked about...lame.

Other than that (be prepared for self pimping) I'm working with a great mod team for Dungeon Siege called Elemental which is just about to release their second update and living it up being a parent of two children (Never ever, ever believe anyone if they tell you are they are a parent if they only have one child).

Using a gun is a) not 100% certain and b) very irresponsible, as it leaves a ghastly mess for people to clean up.

Aside from that, there are people who have been in worse situations and not offed themselves. Let's see how you're doing a year from now!

It's my life. It never ends.

If I were thinking of committing suicide, I wouldn't spend a lot of time worrying about how it would inconvenience the janitor.

Jafd,

a)  maybe not 100%, but good enough
b)  I'm a bitter man.  The bigger the mess, the better.

Hopefully, in a year, I'll be saving a nice, warm spot in Hell for all you folks.  Ask for the Planetcrap pool o' fire.

Moreover, suicide cleanup is big business for disaster restoration companies. Using a gun to off yourself stimulates the economy.

for those that want to fuck with the appearance of the pre tag, just set up a style like:

I'm currently doing a full time internship at Holland's largest pharmaceutical company, so that's why I've been posting less. I've been posting less for a long time, but that's mainly due to the fact that I finally grew some brains and don't feel the neccesity to post excessively, as I did in the past.

I don't know how long I'll be able to visit the 'Crap from work, I've worked here before as a temp, and one visit too much to a non-work related website always resulted in my internet connection being disabled.

As to the status of the 'Crap, I think we've just discussed too many things in the past. Not only have we just about covered every topic known to man, I think people are also getting tired of it. So they post less, and the noise of the trolls becomes more apparent. Which drives people away. I'm not sure if that's the trolls' goal, though. Hm, we could discuss the underlying psychology of why people troll.

I'm not posting much cause frankly most of the recent discussions hold no interest for me at all. Now if a topic would concern AI, raging against the various constructs of Society or beam weapons I would probably post.

As for what I'm doing at the moment, I work in a beneath skill job and try to invent the bestest AI ever in my free time.

Cloggy is watching you.

I am still here, I enjoyed the arguments over religion and if a athiest belives in nothing or just doesn't belive.

Note on two children or not a parent. Does it count if my one child acts like 5 normal behaved children.
I also have two cats.. those together are at least one child. We will not go into the stay at home dad that also could be counted as a child. That would bring my total to 7 children.

Does anyone else have a son that builds a scaffold to unscrew/rescrew the lightbulb to figure out why it turns on and off. (please someone save me.)

Job note.
My company laid off almost the entire US callcenter staff. Even though many folks would have loved it if I had  been walked as well, I managed to get one of the "stay here jobs".
On a even odder note, I am now being argued over between two departments. One will not let me go sighting head count loss, the other will not hire til they get me. I don't know what to think. Usually, I am the black sheep.

Game news,
I am still avidly playing Star Wars Galaxies. I think I may have figured out the jedi routine. We shall see.
Have you ever noticed(if you play) noone finishes their primary skill choice to master. Just saying is all.

Thinking of buying UT2k4. I don't have time to steal games anymore. For those who know my checkered past, I have 4 .. count em 4 legit copys of Starwars Galaxies and a very legit copy of Simcity4 deluxe. I am also awaiting Sims2. I still feel no need for an xbox and just upgraded my graphics card to a 9800 128ram pro.

I'm still here, though I suspect that my total posts for this year will be much less than last year and take me out of the top 20 that Gabe puts up every now and then. It's all down to my new job: my old one involved a shitload of waiting around for stuff to happen, this one involves far too much stuff happening. I don't get an awful lot of me-time any more :(
